Uniarts Helsinki and ZHdK recently piloted a collaboration exploring remote presence and sensing. Over three sessions, representatives from Uniarts joined ZHdK’ s immersive arts module Between Realities, which focuses on extended realities, mixed-reality storytelling, and spatial computing. In the module, acting students from ZHdK create performances for virtual avatars in real time.

Receiving motion capture data, video, and audio streamed from Zurich, artists from Uniarts used this material to move kinetic sculptures, generate visual responses, and produce reactive audio. These were then streamed back to ZHdK to be experienced by the participants in Zurich.
The remote performance was presented as part of ZHdK International Day on 07.05.2026.
